My name is Kate MacAskill and I am one of three fourth grade teachers at D.J Bakie Elementary School. This will be my second year teaching 4th grade at Bakie. I graduated college early with a duel degree in Elementary Education (K-8) and Special Education (K-12) from Rivier University in Nashua, NH. While I was in college, I chose the specialization of American Studies- during this program I studied the connection between American literature and American history. History has always been one of my many favorite content areas to teach and I can not wait to jump right into the rich 4th grade social studies curriculum! Even though I studied American history in college, I LOVE teaching and learning about science! I am known throughout Bakie as the "science teacher who does messy experiments!"
I love learning about the current and innovative ideas about education. I pride myself in staying current for both myself and my students. I enjoy utilizing many social media platforms to learn from my colleagues all across not only the United States, but also the world. I am a strong believer in using technology and social media in the classroom. Technology is ever changing the face of education, which makes being a student and a teacher at this time so amazing! I can't wait for this school year to start!
