I am so excited to share that flexible seating will be happening in our classroom next year! The idea is that every student has a different learning style, and as their teacher I want to empower each student to choose which seat in our classroom best meets their needs. Students now have a variety of seating options throughout the day. They are no longer tied to sitting on a chair at a desk while they learn. Desks are still an option for those who prefer them, but they are unassigned. Our seating options include stools, the carpet, a bench, tables at different heights, and students may even work at tall standing desks. Students will have their own cubby and bin to store their materials such as notebooks, binders, and pencil boxes. I am so looking forward to tailoring our classroom learning environment to meet your child’s needs.
This past school year I utilized the idea of flexible seating. It helped provide students a voice. I truly believe in a student centered classroom. The flexible seating opportunity in 4M provides students with the opportunity to collaborate, problem solve, and learn what they need in order to be successful. I look forward to working with your child this school year!
